about our grantees

Our grantees are based or have programs that operate in Chicago and state-wide in Illinois, although past grantees were located around the country. Following is a list of the Foundation’s current grantees that are doing work in Replication and Professional Development.

Professional Development Grants

These grants support the provision of technical assistance and training in proven programs and practices to staff in multiple sites, often in more than one state.

Carole Robertson Center for Learning
A one-year, $30,000 grant to train trainers in the Strengthening Families approach to preventing child abuse and building healthy family relationships at Chicago early childhood centers and agencies.

National-Louis University/McCormick Tribune Center for Early Childhood Leadership
A one-year, $20,000 grant to improve its on-line, nationally-recognized credential for center directors, Aim4Excellence.

Replication Grants


These grants support organizations that assist multiple sites, generally in more than one state, in broadening the reach and effectiveness of their evidence-based programs and practices.

American Psychological Association
A $25,148 grant to support technical assistance to existing sites and to five regional offices and support for the "Parents Raising Safe Kids" program, a national initiative that emphasizes early intervention, community involvement, strengthening families and positive parenting to create safe and healthy environments that protect children from violence and its lasting impact.

Erikson Institute
A one-year, $25,000 grant for the national network of Fussy Baby sites, to provide advanced training for providers of prevention information, support and intervention for families with infants who cry excessively.

A one-year $25,000 grant to engage local officers in the development of home-visiting programs.

Health ConnectOne
A one-year, $35,000 grant to support the Harris Doula Institute and the Doula Network and develop a site accreditation process.

A one-year, $40,000 grant to support the Accreditation Manager for Healthy Families America’s home-visiting staff.

A one-year $25,000 grant to create a center-based guide as part of Eating Smart from the Start curriculum.

EQUIP (Early Childhood Quality Improvement Program) Grants

These grants support individual child care centers in Chicago in improving specific programs or practices that have a direct impact on children. EQUIP is a partnership of PECF and other Chicago foundations with a commitment to early childhood development.
