As a foundation and as individuals, we believe that the early years of a child's life are critical and that all children should be given the opportunity to succeed.  With our funding, we strive to ensure that young children who might not otherwise have access to quality programs do have the opportunity to benefit from them.

 

For years the Pritzker Early Childhood Foundation has helped effective programs across the country to improve and expand to new sites.  We have learned many lessons about both the difficulties and rewards of scaling up such programs.  In continuing to fund the replication of evidence-based programs, we will apply these lessons to our grantmaking.  However, we are shifting our emphasis to our home area -- the Chicago region and state-wide in Illinois.  Because we will be closer to the organizations and issues, we can develop a deeper understanding and have the greatest impact with our resources.
